Last night’s scheduled U18 game at Cranfield was postponed late afternoon due to Covid worries at the home club, so the Youth team’s next match will be Thursday 6th January 2022 when we host Northampton Town in the NFA David Joyce Cup.

UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH

COGENHOE UNITED v EASINGTON SPORTS

Compton Park,

Brafield Rd,

Cogenhoe.

NN7 1ND

KO 3-pm.

After last week’s disappointment at Eynesbury, the Cooks return home as they face Banbury club Easington Sports on Saturday. It has now been nine games without a win for Darren Long’s team and this has led to a lack of confidence in the squad, but having already beaten Sports this season at Addison Road, this would be the perfect time to finally pick up a win and bring some Christmas cheer to Compton Park. A late header from Dylan Wilson clinched the points in the reverse fixture which was also Long and Steve Ganley’s first game in charge of the first team, so perhaps that is the talisman we need to turn things around again. They will also be boosted by the return of defensive pair Jack Riley and Paddy Cichosz who are available again after their recent suspensions.

We are two places above Easington going into the game, but the gap is a solitary point with our opponents currently holding a much better goal-difference, although that won’t come in to effect tomorrow whatever the score. Easington are five without a win, although three of them have ended in draws and last week they fought back from 3-1 down to earn a point against Wellingborough Town. Levi Steele is a recent acquisition and a player who knows where the goal is which he proved with a double. He had been linked with a possible move to Compton Park during his time at Southam United, but sadly nothing came of that and he moved to FC Stratford in the Midland League instead, before recently linking up tomorrow’s opponents.

This will be the Cooks last match before Christmas and our final home game of the year, but we are in action again on Tuesday 28th December (a Bank Holiday) when we visit O.N Chenecks with the game kicking-off at 3pm.

UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-RESERVE DIVISION

G.N.G OADBY TOWN Reserves v COGENHOE UNITED Reserves

Green King Park,

Wigston Rd,

Oadby,

Leicester.

LE2 5QG

KO 2-pm

The Reserves are in decent form of late and they will be hoping to round the year off with a good result as they travel to 6th place Oadby on Saturday. Last weekend the Cooks entertained the fans with a 4-4 draw at home to Desborough Town with Jessi Obeng scoring twice alongside singles from Lorenco Soulollari and Will Russell. The Poachers went down 1-2 at home to M.K Irish, a result that saw the visitors leapfrog G.N.G in the table. Camen Bhandal scored a late consolation for tomorrow’s opponents.

Oadby are currently having issues with their floodlights, so this game will kick off at the earlier time of 2pm.
