Gary Fletcher takes his U18 squad down the road to Moulton College as we look to progress in the County Cup. Between us and the second round stands AFC Rushden & Diamonds Academy who this season are playing in the North half of the NSYL. They currently sit bottom of the table but a run in the F.A Youth cup means they have only played twice in the league, losing 2-3 at home to Rothwell Corinthians and drawing 2-2 away at Corby Town. They do have two U18s teams so not sure how many of the players on show tonight we have played in the F.A Youth Cup last Thursday at Bugbrooke, but they put an entertaining display as they drew 4-4 with the South Division title favourites before losing out on penalties.
The Cooks had bowed out of that competition to Bugbrooke two weeks pervious, so it was league action for us last week and a stunning 8-0 win over Biggleswade Town on a miserable night at Compton Park weather-wise. Luca Iaciofano scored a hat-trick with one apiece for Shad Reza, Manny Asante, Charlie McAuley and Josh Wootton all coming after the Waders had put through their own goal early on.
There was no mention of restriction on spectators from the college for this game so we believe all are welcome, but guessing we will be peering through a cage to do so. Rain is forecast too so a brolly would be recommended.
