The Cooks will have to travel to face Stone OA in a replay of the F.A Cup after drawing 1-1 on Saturday. Jessi Obeng had put us in front after 34 minutes with a cool finish after good work from Ben Gough, but Stone substitute Tom Harley levelled things up on 74 hence this game on Tuesday night. If this replay is level after 90 minutes then extra-time will be played, with penalties deciding the tie if the two teams still can’t be separated. One thing we do know for sure is that the winners will then make the trip to face Wolverhampton Casuals in the next round on the 20th August after the Midland League Step 5 side won 3-1 at Hinckley AFC on Sunday afternoon.
I have been to watch a game at this ground a couple of times, the first time to see the then occupants Meir K.A when they played in the Midland Combination, but both club and league have long since disappeared I’m afraid.
Shorter than normal preview today as I introduced you to the visitors before Saturday’s game and apart from the 1-1 draw, not a lot has changed since then. I can confirm they were a nice bunch of people though and I’m sure we will be given a warm welcome on Tuesday night. If you are driving up, I recommend the A50 rather than the M6, although I have also been informed that the Cooks will be running a coach so contact the club for availability details.
