PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY
COGENHOE UNITED v BARTON ROVERS
Compton Park, Brafield Rd, Cogenhoe NN7 1 ND
KO 7-45 pm
The Cooks first team play their final warm-up game of pre-season tomorrow night when Barton Rovers pay us a visit for what should be a good work-out for both sides. The Bedfordshire club play a step above us in the Southern League Division One Central and have been at that level for a number of years now. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any updated websites or social media for the clubs so I don’t have anything to put into this preview unfortunately. I do know that they were beaten 2-1 at Newport Pagnell a couple of weeks back in a friendly, but that I’m afraid is it.
The Cooks were 1-0 winners at Raunds Town on Saturday thanks to a first half goal from Tom Wakley, his third in pre-season, making it back-to-back wins for the second time this season. The next time the first team head out on the field will be at Desborough in our opening league game on Tuesday 3rd August, with the F.A Cup tie at home to Haverhill Rovers following four days later.

PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY
AFC OAKLEY v COGENHOE UNITED Reserves
Oakley Recreation Association Sports & Social, Church Lane, Oakley, Beds MK43 7RJ
KO 7pm
The Reserves still have two friendlies lined-up starting on Wednesday evening when we travel to AFC Oakley. Our hosts finished third in the Befordshire County League last season so are likely to be a real tests for our young squad, but looking at the table and results they would have taken the title if they had won their final game at home to Cranfield United, but they were beaten 2-1. This meant they finished three points adrift of champions Queens Park Crescents and second placed Crawley Green Reserves, but with a far superior goal-difference to both.
Last time out reserves thumped Wootton St George 5-1 under the watchful eye of U18s management team of Darren Long and Chris Hewett, but with Daz away I expect Chris will take the reins with Gary Fletcher assisting him. Not sure where we are as a club with a replacement for Kevin Squirell in the hot seat, but as soon as any information becomes available I will post it on the website.
