COVENTRY SPHINX 1-0 COVENTRY UNITED

The big Coventry derby went in favour of the home team as Harvey Smith’s 16th minute goal remained unanswered. Sphinx skipper Callum Woodward was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Charlie Noakes just before the hour, but United couldn’t take advantage of the extra man and it is Sphinx who continue to fly the flag for the UCL.

STOURPORT SWIFTS 2-2 RUGBY TOWN

(Rugby won 5-4 on pens)

Rugby Town needed penalties to go through against Stourport Swifts at Walshes Meadow against Midland League side Stourport Swifts. Drew Canavan warmed up for later when he converted a penalty after Ash Bodycote had brought him down, but David Kolodynski levelled things up with a shot on the turn after a scramble inside the Swifts box. Kolodynski headed Rugby in front with his second of the afternoon from the first attack of the second half, but Stourport took the game to penalties when Edilson Antonio headed home a Canavan free-kick.

 

WHITTLESEY ATHLETIC 0-6 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN

The Swans had a very comfortable win at Eastern Counties League side Whittlesey who had dumped Worcester City out in the previous round. Danny Webb had already seen a shot saved before he headed the UCL side in front from a Ben Shepherd corner and Kieron Barnes made it two from a Michael Lyon cross. Shepherd sent Webb clear and he finished well for his second of the game and Barnes almost made it four before the break, but his effort hit the bar. Barnes crossed for Jake Watkinson to head home as the second half continued in the same vein, then Ben Ford converted from the penalty spot and it was Ford again who brought up the half-dozen with a curling effort from outside the box.

BIGGLESWADE UNITED 0-1 LONG BUCKBY

It was a very close game at Second Meadow, but it was Buckby who stole the win thanks to a late goal from Mathew Shipman. We were 82 minutes into the game before Shipman met a low cross in from the left to fire the ball home from just inside the 6-yards box.

BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS 2-0 POTTON UNITED

A goal in each half gave the Badgers a 2-0 win over Potton at the Sett. Eddie Panter struck first and then turned supplier with a cut back across the box for Cosmin Capatina to turn home on the edge of the six-yard box to make it back-to-back wins for Bugbrooke.

DESBOROUGH TOWN 0-2 LUTTERWORTH TOWN

Lutterworth were the only team in the top six in league action today and they took advantage with a 2-0 win at the Waterworks Field and moved above Rugby into fifth spot. Tendai Daire headed the visitors in front on 5 minutes from a great Louis Samuels cross and Marshal Keenan added the second four minutes into the second half after being set up by Dean Adams.

EASINGTON SPORTS 3-3 WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN

Wellingborough had led 2-0 and 3-1 in this game, but in the end could only take home one point from their trip to Banbury. Rhys Kelly gave the Doughboys the lead following a corner and Jake Newman volleyed home a second. Levi Steele nettied from an angle to reduce the arrears after Reece Bayliss has forced a save from his free-kick to make the half-time score 1-2. George Wingrove volleyed home after the home side failed to clear a corner and it looked like an away win, but Steele netted a penalty after Josh Rose had been fouled to give Sports hope and Alex Stott secured a late point after a good run by Alfie Dunn.

EYNESBURY ROVERS 2-0 COGENHOE UNITED

Eynesbury had a comfortable afternoon as they lead-frogged over their opponents thanks to a second half double from James Hatch. The first was a close-range tap in after being set up by Jordan Brown on 63 minutes and then he slotted home a penalty after Brown had been brought down by Cogenhoe keeper Craig Foxall.

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS 2-0 O.N CHENECKS

Goddy sit in ninth place tonight following a 2-0 win over strugglers O.N Chenecks at the Farm. Goals from Alfie Warman and Danny Baulk doing the damage for the home side to inflict a sixth straight defeat on the Northampton team.
