UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH

EASINGTON SPORTS 3-0 COVENTRY SPORTS

It was a fantastic night for Easington Sports as they not only secured their first home win in the UCL, they did it in style by beating one of the favourites 3-0. The first half was goalless, but Tom Smith broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart, Jake Peters made it two on 74 and Alfie Dunn rounded off a memorable night for the Banbury club with the third on 90 minutes.

EYNESBURY ROVERS 0-1 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN

An 81st minute goal from Alfie Powell maintained The Swans 100% start to the season against an Eynesbury team who had kicked-off the evening in third spot.

HINCKLEY L.R 3-1 RUGBY TOWN

Leicester Road moved up to second as they also kept their 100% start to the season going with a 3-1 home win over Rugby. Jordan Burrows (11) and Danny Jenno on the stroke of half-time had given LR a two goal cushion and once Liam Read had added his name to the scoresheet five minutes after the break it was a bridge to far for Rugby. David Kolodynski pulled one back on 55, but that was all they could manage leaving them ten points behind leaders Harborough with a quarter of their season gone.

BIRMINGHAM F.A SENIOR CUP-1ST ROUND

COVENTRY SPHINX 2-6 ASTON VILLA

Callum Woodward and Ryan Harkin were on target for Sphinx, but they were beaten by an exceptional young Aston Villa side at Sphinx Drive. I couldn’t find any details from Villa who don’t even mention the game on their website.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE F.A HILLIER SENIOR CUP-1ST ROUND

BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS 6-0 CORBY TOWN

The Badgers thrashed a young Corby Town team, hitting six without reply. Greg Ling opened the scoring with Eddie Panter and a Ben Drinkwater penalty making it 3-0 at the break. Drinkwater got his second, whilst Joe Power and Calvin Green joined in to make the scoreline symmetrical as Bugbrooke bounced back after conceding eleven goals in their previous two home games.

DAVENTRY TOWN P-P PETERBOROUGH NORTHERN STAR

PNS withdrew.

DESBOROUGH TOWN 2-0 ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS

Second half goals from Ben Fitzjohn (69) and Joe Buckingham (79) sent Desborough through in this local derby.

LONG BUCKBY 1-3 PETERBOROUGH SPORTS

Adam Shaw scored an 85th minute consolation goal for the UCL club, but by that time Sports had already netted three times. An unfortunate own goal from a Josh Moreman cross gave the Turbines the lead on 48 minutes and Moreman himself cut inside the fire into the top corner three minutes later with a goal of his own. On 54 they made it three goals in six minutes when Paul Malone marked his return from a spell at Harborough Town with a headed goal. Sports have gone from success to success since they joined the UCL a few years back and this result is certainly no disgrace for the Bucks.

WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN 0-5 COGENHOE UNITED

The Cooks gained revenge for the league defeat at the Dog & Duck a few weeks ago with a 5-0 win in the county cup. Jack Riley volleyed home the first goal on 7 minutes and Dylan Wilson broke through to round the keeper for the second on 35. Tom Wakley’s shot came back off the keeper and hit a defender to make it three on 55 and Wilson followed up after a good save to fire home his second on 66. A superb low-driven free-kick from Will Bates rounded off the scoring on 76 to make it a very happy evening for the visitors.

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE F.A HILLIER SENIOR CUP-1ST ROUND

O.N CHENECKS 0-3 AFC RUSHDEN & DIAMONDS

A Tom Lorraine goal on 20 minutes separated the teams at the break in Northampton and Will Jones doubled their advantage with his first senior goal for the club. Jones struck again for his second of the night with a tap in to round off a comfortable victory for the Diamonds at Billing Road.
