Cogenhoe and Potton will replay the game we originally won 3-2 early on in the season on Tuesday night. I’m sure most of you are aware of the proceedings that evening when the referee insisted we were able to make a fourth substitution after Harry Darnell had been concussed late in the game. Harry, despite not really knowing where he was at the time, would have played out the final minutes of stoppage time, but the referee was adamant that we could use a ‘concussion sub’ and so we did. The referee’s decision wasn’t final though as first the league and then the F.A threw out our appeals and we go again on Tuesday night.

It was a very entertaining game in which Ben Seymour-Shove had netted himself a hat-trick on his one and only appearance for the Cooks after Aaron McArdle had fired Potton into the lead. Dylan Wilson picked up his second yellow card nine minutes from time and then in time added on for Darnell injury/consultation, Sam Willis pulled one back for the visitors.

Directly after that game the Cooks suffered five straight defeats before turning the tide with six straight wins to lift us up into mid-table safety, whilst we now sit three points and three places above Potton, although we have played three games more than tonight’s opponents. Potton have won six times in the league this season so far with three of them coming away from home, so we can expect a tough game, but it is one we really could do with picking up the three points from after six games without a win. Potton drew 1-1 at Easington Sports on Saturday, but like us they conceded in stoppage time, although unlike us they managed to go home with a point from the game.

There is no U18s game this week as Thursday’s home game against Irchester has been postponed at the request of the visitor’s and the first team have a free weekend due to the 21 club division (at least it was when the fixtures were drawn up anyway). The next action for the Cooks will be at Compton Park on Saturday when the Reserves host Yaxley.
