UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-RESERVE DIVISION
COGENHOE UNITED Reserves v YAXLEY Reserves
Compton Park,
Brafield Rd,
Cogenhoe.
NN7 1ND
KO 3-pm
The first team are without a game this weekend so the spotlight falls onto the Reserves on Saturday.
Gary Fletcher and Damien McGrath will be hoping to build on last weekend’s superb 3-2 win over Newport Pagnell when they host Yaxley this weekend. The Cuckoos are 11th in the table compared to Cogenhoe’s 13th, having gained three points more so far, with both clubs having played 16 games, so this will be the half-way point for both teams tomorrow. However for the Cooks to overtake their opponents they would have to win by thirteen clear goals so I think we would settle for just being level on points come 5pm.
Last weekend Yaxley went down 2-1 at home to G.N.G Oadby Town despite the visitors ending the game with ten men and this followed on from a heavy defeat away to Eaton Socon in the Hunts County Cup. Their league form is somewhat erratic to say the least and they had a great 5-2 win away to Bourne with Lewis Baughan celebrating a hat-trick, whilst at the other end of the scale they lost 9-3 at Harborough just a week after only going down 2-1 at then 100% leaders Bugbrooke.
For a team not exactly setting the world alight, their leading scorers are Baugham on 11, Ryley Nicholson-Barfoot has 10 and Liam Sanderson 7 which isn’t bad at all when you remember our leading scorer Shad Reza only has 6. Reserve teams are seldom settled and the Cooks have used 52 players with Yaxley 19 players less and predicting these sort of games is somewhat tough, so just go along, enjoy the ride and see how things pan out on the day.
