PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY
RAUNDS TOWN v COGENHOE UNITED
Kiln Park,
London Road,
Raunds.
NN9 6EQ
KO 3pm
Tomorrow afternoon we head to Raunds for our penultimate pre-season friendly as we meet up once again with former Cooks reserve team manager Craig Hayward who took over first team managerial duties at Kiln Park this summer.
The Shopmates were beaten at home by Deeping Rangers last time out, going down 1-4 despite taking the lead and previous to that they have won 5-0 at Lutterworth Athletic U23s (Sheldon Washington (2), Tom North, Dean McBride and Kurt Randall), lost 2-3 to Wollaston Victoria (Ethan Goodman & Isaac Carter) beaten Irchester 4-1 (Corey Bowden, Washington and a double from A. Trialist) after starting with a 2-1 win at GNG Oadby Town (Korey Morgan (2) ). Like last week’s opponents, Raunds have been moved into the Spartan South Midlands League after the F.A summer shuffle and we wish Craig and his team all the best in their new surroundings.
Craig Adams and Lloyd Groves will probably be close to knowing their plan for the opening game against Desborough in just over a week’s time, but now is the chance for our young lads to show them what they can do as they all hope to be in that starting XI. Last Saturday we were given a real game by Sileby and had to play well in the stifling heat to secure a 3-1 win with keeper Craig Foxall forced into a few good saves, but we won it with three very good goals through Jamie Mastropierro, Tom Wakley and Will Bates.
The reserves game that should have been part one of a double header has had to be called off unfortunately so the 3pm kick-off will now be the only game of the day at Kiln Park tomorrow. We have been advised that the bar will not be open tomorrow afternoon though.
