ISUZU F.A VASE – FIRST ROUND QUALIFYING
COGENHOE UNITED v ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS
Compton Park,
Brafield Rd,
Cogenhoe.
NN7 1ND
KO 3-pm
I had been thinking that I wouldn’t find much to write about for this game having covered Corinthians in last week’s preview, but a week is a long time in football. First of all the announcement came out that chairman and long serving committee member Mark Budworth was to step down with immediate effect, then a few days later they announced that management pair Ben Watts and Richard King had resigned. Tomorrow’s F.A Vase game will mark the first game in charge for Jordan Henson and Jon Boseley, with the former intending to continue his playing role as well.
Last weekend’s game saw the Cooks run out 2-0 winners thanks to second half goals from Jessi Obeng and Pharrell Anderson, but it must be said we missed plenty of chances to have made the gap much wider during the game.
Last time here it was the Cooks who ran out 2-1 winners, again with all the goals coming after the break. Tom Wakley put us ahead before an own goal by Paddy Cichosz levelled the scores, but Archie Elmore popped up with what proved to be the winning goal five minutes from time. Elmore won’t be part of the team tomorrow, or indeed going forward as he has left the club this week, assumedly to look for another club, whilst we will also be missing Mitch White who sits out the second game of his three match suspension.
The F.A Vase is a competition that gives all entrants a potential trip to Wembley and last season our UCL Premier Division colleagues not only made it there, they beat Littlehampton Town 3-0 to lift the trophy itself. A superb achievement and something all fellow UCL PDS clubs are very proud of.
No game tomorrow for the Reserves as they were due to play Wellingborough Town at home, so with the Vase game taking preference, they brought it forward to last Tuesday.
