UHSLPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH

COGENHOE UNITED 0-1 RUGBY TOWN

The Valley kept up the pressure in what in reality is probably the battle for third spot with a 1-0 win over a battling Cogenhoe team. Max Johnson came off the bench at half-time and proved to be the match-winner when he pinged the ball into the far top corner with 56 minutes played.

COVENTRY UNITED 1-3 BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS

Ben Drinkwater fired the Badgers into a 9thth minute lead, but the home side restored parity through Joe Blowers two minutes later. Coventry’s discipline has cost them dearly in recent times and they picked up another red card in the first half, this time Tyler Haddow on the receiving end. Bugbrooke took advantage of the extra man to re-take the lead through Cosmin Capatina a minute shy of the hour and Drinkwater bagged his second of the game ten minutes from time as the Badgers moved up to ninth in the table.

EYNESBURY ROVERS 2-1 BIGGLESWADE TOWN

Eynesbury came from behind to beat Biggleswade 2-1 at Alfred Hall Park. A seventh minute penalty (scorer unknown) gave United the half-time lead, but Rovers pressure finally paid off in the second half with goals from James Duckett on 73 and a late winner from substitute Arnis Lala five minutes from the end.

G.N.G OADBY TOWN 0-1 COVENTRY SPHINX

Harvey Smith stuck two fingers up at Oadby with a 58th minute winner as the put aside their F.A Vase dreams to secure three more points on the road.

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS 3-1 WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN

The Doughboys took the lead through Lloyd Buckby, but the day was to belong to Goddy. Lawrence Hammond equalised from inside the box and then Kian Harness bagged a debut goal from Jack Dickerson’s cross to turn the tables before the break. Hammond netted his second from close range to extend the home side’s lead and lift them up to tenth spot.

HINCKLEY LRFC 2-1 DESBOROUGH TOWN

Desborough did their best to come back from 2-0 down at the break, but in the end the leaders held on to make it 21 games unbeaten as a UCL club. A first half double from Matt Langham after 12 and 41 minutes gave the illusion of another big win for the Hinckley club, but Joel Konteh pulled one back from the penalty spot on 59 to make it interesting again. The late sending off of Leo Adams who had only come on as a sub eight minutes earlier, probably ended Ar Tarns hopes of becoming the second team to take a point of HLR this season.

LUTTERWORTH TOWN 0-0 ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS

Lutterworth drew 0-0 at home for the second Saturday running with Corinthians much the happier with the point in their relegation battle, especially as their two rivals both lost.

O.N CHENECKS 0-4 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN

Third place Swans swept aside Chenecks at Billing Road with two goals in each half. Danny Webb volleyed home a Kieran Barnes cross to open the scoring, then Barnes netted the second when he followed up after Webb’s shot had been saved. Webb extended the lead after the restart and sub Jake Stronge made it four from the penalty spot after Barnes had been bundled over.

POTTON UNITED 0-1 HARBOROUGH TOWN

Second placed Harborough left it late before clinching the three points in Bedfordshire, in fact the game was already five minutes into stoppage time when Joel Carta popped up with the game’s only goal.
