UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE-PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH
COGENHOE UNITED 3-4 LONG BUCKBY
It was a great game for the neutral as Buckby recovered from a 3-1 half time deficit to take all three points at Compton Park. A super-strike by Josh Adams gave the Cooks the lead after 14 minutes, but Baillie O’Reilly nipped onto a poor backpass to equalise eight minutes later. A cool finish from Archie Elmore on 27 and then Will Bates followed up to head home after his shot had been saved four minutes later put the Cooks in charge, but that all changed after the break. Leo Stone pulled one back from the penalty spot on 65 minutes and just two minutes later a bullet far post diving header from Tom Bishop levelled the scores. Carrick Bromage grabbed the winner to complete the turnaround with a close range finish six minutes from the end to round off a great day for what was actually a depleted Buckby team.
COVENTRY SPHINX 1-2 HARBOROUGH TOWN
Harborough took a step closer to the title as they ended Sphinx fantastic fifteen game unbeaten run in Coventry. Joel Carta put the Bees ahead on 22 minutes after playing a one-two with James Ireland, but Louis Guest drew the home level seven minutes later. The winning goal came four minutes from time when Nat Ansu got the final touch to Paul Malone’s shot to leave them needing just one win from their final two games to be crowned as PDS champions.
COVENTRY UNITED 2-2 BIGGLESWADE UNITED
Biggleswade secured a vital point at the bottom, but they could have been in an even better position tonight after twice taking the lead at the Butts Park Arena. A great finish from Cameron Hyde had given Biggleswade the lead four minutes before the break, but Stuart Ndlovu headed the home side level on 62 minutes. It turned United’s way again when Taylor Rhiney beat the keeper in a one-on-one after good work from Jamal McKenzie with 68 minutes played, but they couldn’t hold on as Jack Boden netted a 76th minute equaliser. Biggleswade are now four points clear of Chenecks with two games to go each and that is a lot when you are at the bottom end of the table with only six points up for grabs.
DESBOROUGH TOWN 0-4 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN
Newport have been pretty in-and-out in the league of late, but this was definitely an ‘in’ day as they cruised to a 4-0 win at the Waterworks Field. Jim Burnside and Danny Webb split the goals as they both struck twice in the game. The two combined for the first goal with Burnside setting up Webb for the only goal of the first half, but the Swans found another gear after the break. Burnside burst through before shooting low past the keeper, then he added the third with a header from Webb’s cross. Webb made it four from a Jake Stronge cross before we had an unusual substitution as regular keeper and F.A Vase penalty hero Martin Conway came on as a sub but played in central midfield.
G.N.G OADBY TOWN 1-3 POTTON UNITED
Potton picked up three points in Oadby as they ran out 3-1 winners. Chisom Amadi opened the scoring after just 3 minutes and Sam Willis added a vital second two minutes before the break. Andre Williams gave G.N.G hope when he reduced the arrears a minute shy of the hour, but Liam Andrews struck with Potton’s third three minutes later as they home side failed to build on their impressive midweek win as their six match unbeaten run came to an end.
GODMANCHESTER ROVERS 1-3 LUTTERWORTH TOWN
Daniel Baulk gave the Rovers the lead on 12 minutes, but that was as good as it got this afternoon for the Huntingdonshire side. Abdul Rahman Sunmonu drew the Swifts level after 22 minutes and a double strike from defender Justin Peace put the visitors firmly in charge with his goals coming on 34 and 84 minutes.
ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS 2-2 EASINGTON SPORTS
Corinthians had to come from behind twice at home to Easington, but Jurelle Phillip’s second equaliser ensured the Northants club will still be playing Premier Division football next season. Aaron Healey had levelled things up for the home side in the first half with Michael O’Regan and Piers Walton scoring for the Banbury boys.
RUGBY TOWN 2-1 O.N CHENECKS
Rugby inflicted league defeat number 28 on Chenecks, but they were made to fight all the way by the visitors who are fighting for their step five status. No goals in the first half, but David Kolodynski turned supplier after the break as he created chances that both Justin Marsden and Caine Elliott gratefully accepted. Jonnny Muddiman pulled one back for the Northampton side, but it was Rugby who took the win and moved closer to securing third place.
WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN 0-2 HINCKLEY LRFC
LRFC kept the pressure up on Harborough with a 2-0 success at Wellingborough Town. Simon Alcott headed home a Dom Brennan cross to give them the half time lead and Brennan netted the second from close range to seal the three points.
