Unfortunately COVID got hold of me and I have been unwell for the past week. This has meant no updates to the website so I have done a brief recap on the games played and added a short midweek preview at the end.
Not fully recovered by any means, but am on the way back now so hopefully a return to my normal reports and photos are just around the corner now, but Harborough may be a little soon I fear.

LONG BUCKBY AFC (1) 3 COGENHOE UNITED (2) 3
Bucks, Reeve 11 Shaw 63 (pen), 90
Cooks; Vaughan 14, Boateng 21, Wilson 55
We fell behind at Long Buckby to a Tyler Reeve goal on 8 minutes, but we looked to be cruising to another win as he hit back to lead 3-1 before the hour mark, but fair play to the home side who came back take a point. A Vaughan cross-shot had levelled things up on 14 minutes and a bullet header from Boateng had us ahead seven minutes later. A great finish on the break from Wilson extended our advantage after the restart, but two goals from the lively Adam Shaw, a penalty on 63 and an injury time chip, brought our winning streak to an end.
As well as the first goals for the club for both Vaughan and Boateng, we also saw the first team debut for former-Newbury Forest midfielder Ivandro Monteiro as a second half substitute.

First team report.
We fell behind again in our midweek trip to Newport Pagnell as Darryl Smith side-footed home after a mix up at the back, although Boateng had rattled the crossbar down the other end before the goal. The second half saw the Cooks show great character though and Josh Adams levelled from a free-kick on 53 minutes and Wilson put us ahead a minute later to turn the game on its head. The in-form Dylan Wilson added a third when he dinked the ball over Martin Conway’s head as he ran through one-on-one with a class finish to make it four goals in three games and twelve altogether so far for the striker. Keeper Craig Foxall also played his part by denying Jake Watkinson on more than one occasion including a noticeable double save with the game still goalless.
Cooks; Foxall, Bates, Adams, Mortimer, Riley, Cichosz, Alexander ©, Archer, Culley, Wilson, Boateng, Wakley (sub Monteiro). Subs not used; Vaughan, Short & Nathan Jones
Swans; Conway, Pryke, Ford © (Markey), Smail, Wright (Idiakhoa), Powell, Barnes, Shepherd, Watkinson (Burnside), D. Smith, Stronge. Subs not used; Ahmed & N. Smith.

The Reserves were impressive 3-1 home winners over Irchester United with striker Will Russell marking his comeback from injury hitting a first half hat-trick with goals after 15, 28 and 35 minutes. Euan Peasland did manage to pull one back after the break for the Romans, but the young Cooks never looked in any danger of not taking the three points.

Cooks; Mason (2)
Doughboys; Uche (2), Jude (2), Martin, Whitford.
It was a very different story at home to Wellingborough Town last Saturday though as the high-flying visitors beat us 6-2 here with former Cooks striker Daniel Uche scoring twice. Ben Smith played in goal for the Cooks, his first appearance for well over a year after being injured for the U18s at AFC Dunstable in the F.A Youth Cup, taking over from Nathan Adamson who joined O.N Chenecks in midweek and made his Premier Division debut on Saturday. Ben Mason scored both of the Cooks goals as he continues his road back to full-fitness after an even longer injury lay-off, to add his recent first team call-up. Also returning to the club was Leon Jones who joins up with Gary Flecther again in both U18s and Reserve squads.
Cooks; Smith, Vaughan, C. Jones, Soulollari, N. Jones, Walpole ©, Short, Monteiro, W. Russell, Mason, Asante. Subs all used; Flecther, Reza, L. Jones, Iaciofano.

HARBOROUGH TOWN v COGENHOE UNITED
The Beehive,
HTFC Community Ground,
Northampton Rd,
Market Harborough.
LE16 9HF
KO 7-45 pm.
The Cooks nine game unbeaten run faces a tough test as they head to leaders Harborough Town on Tuesday night, but revenge may well be in the back of the Cogenhoe player’s minds after the 0-6 drubbing they received at Compton Park less than a couple of months ago.
Things have changed dramatically since then though and a new confidence was swept through the Cooks squad. They were narrowly beaten by Harefield in the Vase the following game, but since then it has been nine straight games without defeat for Cogenhoe, with seven wins and two draws to their name.
The Bees made the perfect start to the season by winning their first ten league games and their only league defeat to date came at still 100% Hinckley LRFC in game eleven. The home side beat them 2-1 that day and right now the Hinckley side sit second, one point behind the Bees, but having played two games less. On Saturday Harborough travelled to face Midlands League team Romulus in the F.A Vase and after a real battle, the game ended 1-1 after 90 minutes thanks to James Ireland’s headed equaliser. The UCL club were successful with all five penalties to edge into the next round 5-4 on penalties.
