COGENHOE UNITED v ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS (3PM)

DAVENTRY TOWN RESERVES v COGENHOE UNITED RESERVES (2PM)

Both Cooks team will play their first matches of 2023 tomorrow with the First team facing fellow strugglers Rothwell Corinthians at Compton Park, whilst the Reserves head across the county to face Daventry Town Reserves.

For Scott Carlin’s team it is a big game against one of only three teams currently below us with the gap being three points, although they would have to beat us by seven clear goals to actually overtake us tomorrow, which is even less likely than Bristol Rovers edging out the Cobblers to promotion last season. It may be a little too early to start talking of six-pointers, but a win for the Cooks would leave them with some breathing space and having already beaten Corinthians twice this season, confidence should be high of completing the hat-trick. The league win at Sargeants Lawn was our first of the season as goals from Jessi Obeng and Pharrell Anderson saw us win 2-0, then seven days later they travelled here in the league with Cogenhoe winning 3-2, although the actual game was more incisive in the Cooks favour than the result may suggest. Corinthians have added a familiar face to their squad this week as Kalon Peniasko has returned to the fold from Harborough Town. He made over 150 appearances for the Rothwell club in his previous spell and will add a bit of experience to their largely young squad. He joins up with Dodzi Agbenu who made the same trip a few weeks ago as they strengthen things up hoping to pull themselves to safety in the second half of the season.

The Reserves head to Daventry Town hoping to avenge the 2-4 defeat inflicted on them about a month ago in an action packed game at Compton Park.
