NORTHANTS F.A HILLER SENIOR CUP – QUARTER-FINAL

COGENHOE UNITED v DESBOROUGH TOWN

Compton Park,

Brafield Rd,

Cogenhoe.

NN7 1ND

KO 7-45 pm.

The reprieved Cooks take on Desborough Town tomorrow night in the county cup with a semi-final spot awaiting winners. Ar Tarn are currently on a run of five matches without a win, although they are one point ahead of the Cooks in the league, but they have picked up two draws away from home in their previous two outings. On Saturday they held Godmanchester to a 2-2 draw having taken a point off Eynesbury the game before, with Iain Blaikie scoring all three of their goals taking him to seven for the season from just nine games. Cup games haven’t gone well for them either having fallen at the first hurdle in the F.A Cup, F.A Vase and the League Cup this season. So far, they have failed to win on their travels, with both victories coming at the Waterworks Field, 4-3 over Lutterworth Town and a very impressive 2-0 success over early leaders March.

The Cooks are of course still in three cup competitions with their latest success coming against Rainworth on Saturday in the league cup as goals from Jamie Hall, Jessi Obeng, Luca Purse and Josh Jones saw us home comfortably, making it back-to-back Compton Park wins, sandwiched by the defeat away to Easington.

The last meeting between our clubs here ended 1-1. Jack Riley had been sent off on 39 minutes and it got worse on the stroke of half-time when Barnes Gladman gave the visitors the lead, but Dylan Wilson struck straight after the restart to mean a share of the spoils. If a similar result occurs tomorrow, the game will be decided on the night from the penalty spot.
