The Cooks are back in cup action tomorrow when they host local giants Northampton Town who will send a young squad over to Compton Park in the first round of the Hillier Senior Cup. The Cooks reached the final of this competition least season before eventually losing to Peterborough Sports at Sixfields Stadium, only the second time that they have got this far in the competition having been losing finalists to Daventry Town back in 2014.
The Cobblers play in this competition at U23 level these days, with their ‘first team’ playing the winners every other year in the Maunsell Cup (alternating with Peterborough United). They are the new holders of the Maunsell Cup having beaten Peterborough Sports 1-0 away last Tuesday night with Neo Dobson scoring the only goal of the game in the second half.
Whist the club are not doing their normal glossy programme for this game, a 4-page black and white issue will be available free at the turnstile for those who are interested.
