UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE – PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH

WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN V COGENHOE UNITED

Dog & Duck Gound,

London Rd,

Wellingborough.

NN8 2DP

KO 7-45 pm

The Cooks are in local derby action on Tuesday night when they make the short trip to Wellingborough Town, where they will be in opposition with several familiar faces at the Dog & Duck. The Doughboys are managed by former Cooks gaffer Jake Stone who is assisted by former player Jake Cayton, who came through the once highly successful U18s team at Compton Park. Stone added three of last season’s Cooks team to his squad in the summer, taking the tally to seventeen, with Ash Bodycote, Paddy Cichosz and Jessi Obeng the latest to make the make the journey up the A45, while former Compton Park favourite Will Bates had been snapped up in the second half of last season. Obeng, along with another ex-Cook in the talented Tom Iaciofano, have already netted ten times this season, but they are still three behind current leading scorer Neo Richard-Noel for the free-scoring Doughboys. Our hosts currently occupy the final play-off place with their home form exceptional in the league, winning all six games so far, whilst they have rattled in 48 goals at the Dog & Duck in all competitions.

Scott Carlin will be without Dalton Leon for the game as the midfielder sits out his suspension for the double yellow card he picked up at St Neots, adding to the injured trio of Tommy Curry, Bailey Weatherly and Josh Jones as they look to end the run of four straight defeats before going into Saturday’s F.A Vase tie at home to Eastwood CFC.

Our last trip to the Dog & Duck came towards the end of last season and resulted in a 1-1 draw. Jack Bowen, another former Cogenhoe player, headed the home side in front, but Ethan Lack followed up to equalise after Dan Farrell had saved his penalty a few minutes later. Even though this was only a few months ago, only Jamie Hall is likely to feature tomorrow from the Cooks starting eleven, although four of the subs are likely to be involved in the shape of Callum Farmer, Alex Parkes, Kieron Mobbs and Dylan Carlin.
