Tuesday 12th July

Hayden Road,

NN10 0HX

KO 7-45 pm.

On Tuesday night we take our unbeaten pre-season run to Hayden Road to play Spartan South Midlands League Division One club Rushden & Higham United. We followed up the win over Irchester and the draw at Nirvana with a 2-1 win over higher grade Daventry Town on Saturday as a double-strike from Jessi Obeng late in the first half put us in control. Daventry did pull one back, but they couldn’t find a second and the Cooks took the win.

The Lankies started off their campaign with a narrow 3-4 reverse against Wellingborough Town on the 3G pitch at the Redwell Centre and they took on Higham Town at home on Saturday, but I don’t have the result from that game to hand.

For the Cooks next game it will be the serious stuff as we host R&HU ground-sharers AFC Rushden & Diamonds in the NFA Hillier Senior Cup so there should be an element of playing for the places in this game.

The last time we played the Lankies was back in August 2020 as pre-season had been delayed by the lockdown. We ran out 8-0 winners that day with Taylor Orosz (3), Nat Ansu (2), Michael Cirelli, Aynsley MacDonald and Jordan Orosz all on target, while Carter Price missed a penalty. The home side were really struggling at that point, but I suspect this one will be a much closer affair.
