The Cooks continue their pre-season campaign with a trip to Melton Mowbray this Saturday to face Melton Town. This will be the Cooks penultimate friendly with just Tuesday night’s home game against AFC Rushden & Diamonds to go before the big kick-off a week tomorrow when Coventry United visit Compton Park. Melton, who play in the UCL Premier North, have lost two and won one of their previous three games this season with their last game on Tuesday night ending in a 7-1 defeat at home to higher grade Stamford, while they won the ‘Pork Pie Derby’, beating Holwell Sports 3-2, but narrowly lost to big-spending NPL boys Spalding United who scored the only of the game with new signing Dan Sweeney the match winner. The Cooks put out a team mainly consisting of trialists on Thursday evening and beat Corby Locos 1-0. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend and have no details about the game to hand.

Tomorrow’s game kicks-off at 3pm and is being played at Melton’s ground which can be found at the Melton Sports Village, Burton Road, Melton Mowbray. LE13 1DN.
