YOUTH AND RESERVES UPDATE.

The Youth team travelled to Wellingborough Town with Gary Fletcher giving two youngsters their Cogenhoe debuts, albeit from the substitute’s bench, in the shape of Isaac Redding and Robert Jankowski. It was an entertaining game for the supporters to enjoy as the Cooks got the better of an eight-goal game with Shad Reza bagging himself two, while top scorer Luca Iaciofano, Ollie Sljivic and debutant Redding backed him up with singles. Reuel Shaddai Gordon-Douglas, Josh Kearney and Micah Obeng-Asare all replied for the hosts.

Things didn’t go so well for the Reserves though as a patched up team travelled to play an improving Rothwell Corinthians and ended up losing 8-1. It was only 2-0 at the break with Alfie Frain and Aaron Lingley on target, but early second half goals from Luca Miller and Owen Wells put the game out of sight for home team. Brief hope came through Kelvin Gyamfi’s fourth goal of the season, but George Armer banged in an eight minute hat-trick and Jakub Toth took Corinthians tally up to eight on a day to forget for the Cooks.

It is now three defeats on the spin for the Cooks, but the previous two had been narrow ones following on from an excellent run of form, but player dedication is costing us hard of late with Fletcher again having to make new signings in the week just to get a team out after the embarrassment of having to call off the trip to Raunds seven days earlier.
