AFC Sherington vs Cogenhoe Utd

MK Veterans League Division 3

Sunday 26th March 2023.

Kick-off 10.30

Perry Lane Recreation Ground

Sherington, MK16 9NH

As the previous 2 Cooks veterans matches have both been cancelled due to 2 teams not turning up for games giving Cogenhoe walkovers, I was a bit reluctant to even bother writing a preview this week when the others have been wasted, but I will cross my fingers, except the one’s I’m typing with and just hope that the game goes ahead.

With Cogenhoe occupying top spot in the table and Sherington lying 2nd, this will be a six point game with the Cooks hoping to extend their lead to 9 points whilst Sherington will be looking for the win to cut the deficit to 3 points, Cogenhoe do have a 48 goal difference lead over the Stags. The previous meeting between the two sides saw Cogenhoe hit the Stags net eleven times with three conceded by the Cooks.

Sherington have played one game more than Cogenhoe this season having won 12, drawn 2 with 3 games lost having scored 55 and conceded 38. The Stags come in to this game having been knocked out of the MK Plate trophy last Sunday at home to Leighton Phoenix 0-2 so have it all to play for in the league now.
