HINCKLEY LRFC 8-0 BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS

LRFC kept hold of top spot with a goal-fest at home to Bugbrooke on Tuesday night with leading scored Matt Langham added three more to his tally. Dom Brennan opened the scoring on 3 minutes before Langham joined with a first half brace on 32 and 37 minutes. They didn’t let off after the break either WITH Tom Smith bagging two after 55 and 67, Brennan notching his second on 73 and Langham completing his hat-trick after 78. Just to rub salt into the Badgers wounds sub Jake Brown added an eighth deep into stoppage time to send a majority of the 61 spectators home with a big smile on their face.

LONG BUCKBY 0-6 WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN

It has been a topsy-turvy season for Long Buckby and they were put to the sword by the Doughboys who ran in six without reply at Station Road. This one was all over by the break as the ruthless visitors built up a four goal lead before adding a routine two more in the second half. Lloyd Buckby scored himself a hat-trick with Jake Newman, Jack O’Connor and sub Tom Iaciofano joining in.

LUTTERWORTH TOWN 2-2 BIGGLESWADE UNITED

Earlier in the season this would have been a massive point for Biggleswade, but after leading 2-0 at Dunley Way they will probably feel a little disappointed when the final whistle blew, even if their lead over the relegation zone is now five points. Conor Inskip’s 28th minute goal had given United the half time lead and they seemed to be heading for another three points when Taylor Rhiney doubled their lead with 73 minutes played, but a late double strike from Abdul Rahman Sunmonu pegged them back as the Swifts took a share of the points.

RUGBY TOWN 0-2 HARBOROUGH TOWN

The Bees kept up the pressure on the leaders Hinckley with a comfortable 2-0 win at in-form Rugby Town. Freddie Robinson headed the visitors into a deserved lead a minute before half-time at Nat Ansu made sure with their second goal three minutes from time.

BUILDBASE F.A VASE- QUARTER FINAL

WHITCHURCH ALPORT 1-2 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN

The Swans continue to fly the flag for the PDS as they made it through to the semi-finals of the F.A Vase, where they are joined by PDN side Loughborough Students. A capacity crowd of 1,200 packed into Yockings Park and the home contingent were soon on full voice as Martin Conway could only parry a Kieran Lazenby shot and Sean Griffiths pounced to fire Alport in front with just a few minutes played. Newport were level on 16 minutes though as Ben Shepherd sent Whitchurch keeper Ellis Allen the wrong way from the penalty spot after the home custodian had brought down Jake Watkinson. The UCL boys got their noses in front a minute before the hour when Shepherd sent Danny Webb through and he kept his cool before slotting the ball past Allen and with both keeper’s being called into action, nobody else could get their name on the scoresheet and it was the Swans who progressed to the semi-finals. Loughborough Students were 2-0 home winners over Wythenshawe Town with G Wilson and T Fadahunsi on target.

It is very unusual for the Northern League not to have a least one representative in the final four, but the two UCL clubs are joined by Southern Combination club Littlehampton Town who beat North Shields 1-0 today and Wessex Leaguers Hamworthy United who overcame Southall 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

COVENTRY SPHINX 8-1 BIGGLESWADE UNITED

Biggleswade’s recent good form came to a shattering stop as they were thrashed 8-1 by Coventry Sphinx. The home side were 5-1 up at the break as Callum Stewart rattled in a quickfire hat-trick with goals on 25, 27 and 32, before Matt Shipman joined in with a brace on 38 and 45. All this came after Mason Watkins-Clark had headed Biggleswade into a 19th minute lead. Sphinx carried on after the restart with a late flurry of goals as Callum Woodward (78), Lewis Noon (81) and Felix Donkor (88) took the scoreline up to eight.

COVENTRY UNITED 2-3 LUTTERWORTH TOWN

The Swifts took a 14th minute lead in Coventry when Jamie Cooper bundled home from a Marshal Keenan corner, but their joy was short lived as Renato Prifti equalised from inside the box five minutes later and then Brian Ndlovu netted his first goal in six years for United to turn the game on its head ten minutes before the break. Ndlovu was again on target on 53 minutes, unfortunately this one went into the wrong net though with the visitors then grabbing a winner on the break through sub Craig Maisiri two minutes from time.

DESBOROUGH TOWN 2-0 EASINGTON SPORTS

Easington failed to score for the fourth game running and paid the ultimate price as Iain Blaikie’s double gave Desborough the points at Braybrooke Road.

EYNESBURY ROVERS 3-1 RUGBY TOWN

Rugby slipped to their second successive defeat, although Eynesbury left it late before sealing the points. Kwado Bugyei-Kyei gave the home side the lead on 25 minutes, but Madundo Semahimbo brought the Valley level before the break. There were already 89 minutes on the clock when James Hatch restored Rovers lead and it was the home side’s leading scorer who completed his brace with eight minutes of stoppage time already played to make sure of the win.

G.N.G OADBY TOWN P-P GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

HARBOROUGH TOWN 2-0 BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS

A goal in each half was enough to give Harborough their second win of the week over a spirited Bugbrooke team. Rhys Kelly, a recent signing from Wellingborough, gave the home side the lead three minutes into first half stoppage time and Joel Carta takes credit for the second on 65 minutes as A Rhys Hoenes shot deflected in off him.

HINCKLEY LRFC 3-0 POTTON UNITED

The leaders ensured they kept hold of pole position with a 3-0 win over Potton. Joe Lyne’s flick header from a corner took a heavy deflection off a defender’s head to put the home side in front on 29 minutes, but they had to wait until the 74th minute before extending their advantage when Danny Jenno fired a low shot across the keeper and into the far corner. A mistake by the Potton keeper saw him bring down his man with ten minutes remaining and Tom Smith slotted the resulting penalty home to give the final scoreline a more realistic look to it.

WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN 3-0 ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS

Wellingborough added to their midweek six goal win with three more at home to strugglers Rothwell Corinthians. A powerful header from Dennis Nkrumah gave the Doughboys the half-time lead as he met Matt Long’s cross and the second half they were even more dominant as Carter Price added a second from the penalty spot after Louis Barrett had been fouled and they added a third when Long stabbed the ball goalwards and a defender could only knock the ball over goal-line.
