UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE – PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH

HISTON v COGENHOE UNITED

Bridge Road Stadium,

Bridge Rd,

Impington,

Histon,

Cambridge.

CB24 9PH

KO 2-PM

The Cooks are hoping to continue their recent run of good form at Histon on Saturday, building on the 3-3 draw at Daventry which we followed up with a 2-1 home success over Leicester Nirvana last Saturday. The Stutes sit third from bottom and were beaten 3-0 at Bugbrooke last time out, having narrowly lost at Racing Club Warwick the week before, but they have improved a lot since former AFC Rushden & Diamonds gaffer Chris Nunn took over in the hot seat, highlighted by a 6-0 demolition of Rugby Borough in ther last home game. He has brought in a few experienced players to buffer his squad including former Diamonds skipper Jake Kerrins and much travelled striker Jim Burnside, a player who certainly knows where the goal is and picked up a F.A Vase winners medal with Newport Pagnell Town two seasons ago, although I believe he will be suspended for tomorrow’s game.

Apologies if you read my earlier edit in which I stated the game was unlikely to go ahead due to a frozen pitch at Bridge Road, but following on from their Facebook post they haven’t even had to confirm if a pitch inspection will be needed in the morning, although they have said it will be likely. They have also said it could be as late as 11am if needed and as this is around the time we will be setting off for the 2pm kick-off, they must remain hopeful that the game will be able to go ahead.
