MK League Division 3

Cogenhoe vs Wingrave Wanderers

Compton Park back pitch

2nd April 2023

KO 10.30.

Cogenhoe veterans host Wingrave Wanderers on the Compton Park back pitch on Sunday morning.  The Wanderers are just one of two teams that have taken points off the Cooks this season gaining a 1-1 draw back in November last year. Wingrave come into this game on the back of a 3-2 win against Great Horwood last Sunday. In their 16 games played this season Wingrave have won 6, lost 8 and drawn 2 scoring 31 with 34 against, they currently sit in 8th place in the division with games in hand to the teams above them.

Cogenhoe vets have not kicked a ball for nearly a month now (I hope they can remember what one looks like) having had the last 3 opponents ‘cry off’ leaving the Cooks with a 9 point clear lead at the top of the table and only needing just 10 more points to win the  division. I’m sure the lads would rather have played the games as the amount of walkovers in the MK league has been nothing short of embarrassing, last week’s opponent’s Sherington have 32 players signed on, but were unable to show up with even the bare minimum of 7 required to start a game, it really has caused a lot of frustration. especially when games are getting called off the day before the scheduled match leaving no time at all to arrange a game.
