UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE – PREMIER DIVISION SOUTH

BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS v COGENHOE UNITED

The Sett,

Gayton Rd,

Bugbrooke.

NN7 3PH

KO 3pm

Cogenhoe make the trip to fellow county village club Bugbrooke S Michaels to face the team two places, but nine points ahead of us in the table. Dale Walton has done extremely well in his first season at the helm, especially when you take into account his young squad were the mainstay of the Reserves last season and for many of their players, this is their first time playing at this level of football. One recent signing has added plenty of experience to the squad though in the shape of Calvin Green and he netted one of his trademark free-kicks last Saturday as they edged past Long Buckby 2-1. Aiden Webster scoring the winning goal, while former Cooks youngster and hot prospect Shad Reza came off the bench for the Badgers. They have won six out of their last seven games with the only blip coming at Lutterworth Town where they lost 2-0 (we know that feeling very well indeed). The pick of that run has to be the 1-0 at then second placed Wellingborough Town as Ben Garwood’s first half goal proved enough to seal the points. Other recent signings include ex-Cogenhoe pair Ben Drinkwater and Joe Malkin, although the latter only featured as an unused sub for the Cooks.

The clash at Compton Park this season was our first home game under Biffa’s reign and it was pretty tight up until Brad Marshall’s rush of blood that saw him pick up his second yellow card of the game on 57 minutes, then Kevin Shehi netted the only goal of the evening nine minutes later. Our last trip to The Sett saw Tom Wakley’s close range finish in the 10th minute give the Cooks a 1-0 win in a game that saw current Cook Bailey Weatherly start for the home side. The other former Badger in our squad is striker Jamie Hall who got himself back among the goals in the midweek win at home to Desborough as he hit the winning goal after Louis Barrett and Ben Gough had pulled us back from 2-0 down.

UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE – RESERVE DIVISION

COGENHOE UNITED RESERVES v G.N.G OADBY TOWN

Compton Park,

Brafield Rd,

Cogenhoe.

NN7 1ND

KO 2pm

The Reserves return to action after their midweek defeat to runaway leaders Harborough Town on Tuesday night with a home game against 13th place G.N.G Oadby Town. Our guests sit two places and five points behind us, but we have played three games less than them and we will be looking to complete the double over them after winning 2-1 at the Riverside Football Ground. Glenn Cakebread and Keiron Mobbs were the scorers for the Cooks, outweighing a Reece Elday strike for the home side. G.N.G have lost their last three games, conceding 15 without reply with the last defeat coming at Whitworth who beat them 4-0. The last time we met at Compton Park, it was the visitors who took the points with a 2-1 away success. Veteran striker Sukhbinder Johal was the hero for the Poachers with goals on 22 and 65 minutes, with Ben Mason netting for the Cooks eleven into the second half.
