NFA Cup semi-final clash for Cogenhoe Veterans.

NFA Cup semi-final

Cogenhoe United v Mereway Sapphires

Sunday 26th Feb 2023.

Compton Park

Kick-off 10.30.

Sunday morning we have the first of THE two cup semi-finals that Cogenhoe Veterans have qualified for, the other being the MK Veterans Cup with a date still to be arranged.

With Cogenhoe and Mereway both top of their respective tables in the league and neither side having lost a league game this season,  this match promises to be a competitive contest.

The Sapphires made it to this semi-final having only played 2 games, defeating Rothwell Corinthians at home 4-2 and Rothwell Corinthians Reserves away 5-1, the other 2 round of games saw them have a bye in the second round and a home-walkover versus Mawsley in the 3rd round.

The Cooks veterans qualified for this game having won away to North Star 2-1, a 2nd round bye, a 9-0 win over Northampton Sovereigns and a penalty shootout win versus Denton after a 0-0 draw at Compton Park, with the Cooks winning 4-2.

In the 12 league games played by Mereway this season, 3 of them have gone down as walkovers, with 11 wins and one draw, with a goal difference of plus 38 having scored 52 with 14 against.
