Scott Carlin has been busy strengthening his squad recently and we had two debutants in our first trip to Robingoodfellows Lane on Saturday. In came Perry Ronayne at centre back and Bailey Weatherly up front as we faced a March Town United team currently occupying seventh spot in the table.

Both sides had created chances, but it remained 0-0 at the break, with the deadlock finally being broken just beyond the hour when Vitor Vas connected with a volley inside the box that went through a crowd of players before hitting the back of the net. The Cooks did have a chance right at the end to salvage a point, but it wasn’t to be and we returned home empty handed.

None of the sides around us at the bottom were in action this weekend so it remains as per, we have just used up one of our games in hand. Next up is the county cup semi-final on Tuesday night when Kettering Town come to Compton Park, although the current weather forecast isn’t promising with freezing conditions hanging around for a few more days.
