HINCKLEY LRFC 2-0 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN

Leicester Road secured promotion to step four with a 2-0 win over F.A Vase finalists Newport Pagnell Town on Tuesday night. Matt Langham opened the scoring on 30 minutes when Jarred Acton set him up and he found the far corner with a low finish and they added a second through Tom Smith five minutes into the second half with a left-foot shot through a crowded penalty area.

HINCHINBROOKE CUP – SEMI FINALS

DEEPING RANGERS 1-1 HARBOROUGH TOWN

Harborough won 4-3 on pens.

Harborough needed penalties to see off PDN hosts Deeping Rangers, but held their nerve to go through 4-3 on spot-kicks. Sam Hollis had given the Bees the half-time lead when he converted Freddie Robinson’s through ball on 29 minutes, but substitute Jake Brown made the ninety-minute score one each with his 83rd minute goal.

GODMANCHESTER UNITED 0-2 POTTON UNITED

Goddy were aiming for their second cup final of the season, but they couldn’t make home advantage count as Potton went through to face Harborough Town. The home side had Alfie Warman sent off in the game and the only information I could find on Potton’s scorers was that James Smith scored on 80 minutes and both goals came after the break.

BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS 1-0 O.N CHENECKS

Jamie Forrest’s final home game in charge at Bugbrooke ended in a 1-0 win over relegation threatened local rivals O.N Chenecks. A decent crowd of 98 repaid the Badgers for moving the game to a Friday night and the home contingent were left happy as Sean Whaler’s 28th minute goal proved enough to give them maximum points.

BIGGLESWADE UNITED 1-2 HINCKLEY LRFC

Biggleswade were very close to picking up a vital point in their relegation battle, but already promoted LRFC broke their hearts with a winner two minutes into added time. Markel Cousins had given the home side the lead on the half-hour mark when he ran on to a ball through the middle and drilled his shot home, but Dom Brennan headed the Hinckley side level after 53 minutes, then Brennan popped up to snatch a win for the away side and keep up their hopes of nicking the title should Harborough slip up.

EYNESBURY ROVERS 0-0 COVENTRY SPHINX

Coventry Sphinx had won their previous seven games and rattled in 29 goals along the way, but they couldn’t find a way through a dogged Eynesbury defence today. The point leaves then in fourth spot, but they really needed all three if they are to catch Rugby and hold off Newport in the battle for third. Rovers remain ninth and are unlikely to finish any higher in the table as we approach the final few games.

G.N.G OADBY TOWN 1-1 COGENHOE UNITED

These two middle of the table sides battled out a 1-1 draw on a very bumpy pitch at Oadby. Andre Williams gave GNG the lead on 9 minutes after some great work from Lamar Parkes before Sorin Cojocaru saved Archie Elmore’s penalty to ensure his side led at the break. Ryan Archer slotted home Cogenhoe’s equaliser from deep inside the box six minutes after the restart and that is how the game ended.

HARBOROUGH TOWN 7-1 DESBOROUGH TOWN

Local derbies often prove to be close affairs, but there was none of that at the Beehive as the leaders showed their neighbours no mercy at all. James Ireland put the Bees in front from the penalty spot after just 3 minutes and he repeated this feat on 22 after the Desborough keeper had brought down Rhys Hoenes inside the box. Hoenes got the third on 28 minutes and it got even worse for Ar Tarn when Ireland completed his second hat-trick in eight days with just 38 minutes played. Dodzi Agbenu joined in when he pounced on back-pass after 67 minutes and Josh Walsh curled home the sixth from the edge of the box two minutes later. Desborough pulled one back through Alvin Magagada on 83, but Walsh had the last word when he took the Bees into seventh heaven with his second of the afternoon four minutes from time. Harborough remain three points clear of Leicester Road with just three games remaining and even more importantly they also have a goal difference 23 goals better than their championship rivals.

LUTTERWORTH TOWN 1-2 NEWPORT PAGNELL TOWN

The Swans edged out the Swifts at Kong Park to keep alive their hopes of finishing third. Ben Shepherd opened the scoring for Newport with his 32nd minute penalty, but Daniel Tuck levelled things up on the stroke of half-time. Jake Watkinson lobbed home the winning goal eight minutes into the second half as fifth beat sixth, with every Newport player now needing to impress in their final five games as they fight for a place in the team at Wembley next month.

POTTON UNITED 2-0 EASINGTON SPORTS

Two quick-fire second half goals gave Potton the points at home to out-of-sorts Easington at the Hutchinson Hollow. Dave Parkinson (73) and Jack Moriarty (75) doing the damage as the Royals showed no signs of a hangover from the cup semi-final win four days earlier.

ROTHWELL CORINTHIANS 1-1 GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

Youngster Owen Wells earned Corinthians a point with his close range second-half finish after Ross Munro had given the visitors the half-time lead at Sergeants Lawn. The point means Corinthians are now eight points clear of Chenecks in the relegation spot and with a far superior goal difference they are all but safe with just three games to go.

RUGBY TOWN 2-2 WELLINGBOROUGH TOWN

It finished all-square at Butlin Road as the Valley and the Doughboys shared four first half goals. Tom Iaciofano headed the visitors ahead in this one, but an own goal from Adam Shaw’s low cross levelled things up. Matt Long restored Wellingborough’s lead with a brilliant effort from 30-yards out, but James Hancocks stepped to equalise again with a penalty after Luke English had been pushed inside the box. All this happened inside the first thirty minutes, but neither side could get themselves a winner in the remaining hour and so they both add a point to their season’s total.
